Southern Appalachian Soaps was created out of need - owner Shirley Wood found that skin loses elasticity and dries out with aging. Commercial products didn't help - and sometimes caused additional skin problems! "Natural" products sometimes list very unnatural ingredients on their labels.
Determined to research and create a personal solution, I learned that commercial soaps were taking moisture from our skin! How? |
|
- Soap naturally contains glycerin from the vegetable oils used - it draws humidity from the air to moisturize the skin. However ...
- Commercial soap makers remove 80% of beneficial glycerin from their soaps for use in other products!
I realized that commercial soap could not keep our skin soft and young-looking. So I created a unique blend of fresh, whole organic goat milk, moisturizing oils, Vitamin E, herbs, and finely ground roots to gently cleanse the skin. Friends and family have encouraged me to continue developing new skin care products; you can't argue with success!
My bar soap recipe is based on organic goat milk produced high in the northeast Georgia mountains.
What's so special about GOAT MILK?
-
Goat milk contains skin-balancing caprylic acid, which helps your skin defend itself from bacteria
- Richest in butterfat, the Nubian goat milk I use is exceptionally creamy and makes the best soap bars
Natural ingredients are always preferred in Southern Appalachian Soaps. For Aunt Pearl's Special Balms and Smackin' Good Lip Balm recipes, I obtain beeswax from local beekeepers, then clarify it by hand. You will find this pure, golden beeswax in the lip, hand and foot balms.
I am strongly committed to the excellence of my products, and label them honestly and clearly. Products containing all natural ingredients are marked "100% Natural". If a product contains an artificial ingredient, I label it so. All products made by Southern Appalachian Soaps are cruelty-free.
