A native of Ellijay, Shirley is fourth generation Scots Irish. Having left the mountain and community of Flat Branch from time to time for school and work she returned home in 2002 when the idea owning her own business was only a thought. Believing she could improve on Granny's old-fashioned lye soap and needing help for her own dry skin, Shirley formulated the unique 30% organic goat milk soap made today by Southern Appalachian Soap Co. Goat milk provides wonderful moisture for the skin, and the combination of oils and herbals in it created a cleansing, softening, smoothing, wildly lathering soap that's great for all skin types. Shirley continues to research and develop unique skin care products using all-natural ingredients, and takes great pleasure and pride in her work.
